Ingredients:
- 4 cups (500g) all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (7g) instant yeast
- 1/2 cup (120ml) warm milk
- 1/2 cup (115g) pumpkin puree
- 1/3 cup (65g) granulated sugar
- 6 tbsp (85g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1 tsp (6g) salt
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, very soft
- 1 cup (200g) brown sugar, packed
- 2 tbsp (16g) ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp (6g) pumpkin pie spice
- 1/4 tsp (1.5g) salt
- 4 oz (115g) full-fat cream cheese, softened
- 4 tbsp (55g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups (180g) powdered sugar
- 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp (30ml) heavy cream
Instructions:
- Combine warm milk and yeast in the bowl of a mixer and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add pumpkin puree, granulated sugar, softened butter, and egg; whisk until smooth.
- Stir in flour and salt. Knead using a dough hook on medium-low speed for 5–7 minutes until the dough is smooth and pulls away from the bowl.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm spot for 60–90 minutes until doubled in size.
- Punch down the risen dough, turn it out onto a floured surface, and roll into a 12x18 inch rectangle.
- Spread the very soft butter evenly across the dough, leaving a 1/2 inch border.
- Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, and salt, then sprinkle evenly over the buttered dough.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice into 12 equal rolls. Place rolls in a greased 9x13 inch baking pan.
- Bake for 28 minutes or until lightly golden brown.
- Prepare the frosting by beating together softened cream cheese, softened butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and heavy cream until smooth.
- Spread the cream cheese frosting over the rolls while they are still warm.
