Ingredients:

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1/4 cup ghee
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup condensed milk
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1 pinch saffron strands
  • 1 tbsp warm milk
  • 1 tbsp slivered almonds

Instructions:

  1. Heat the ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat until melted and shimmering.
  2. Add the almond flour and sauté for 3-5 minutes, stirring constantly until the flour turns a pale golden color and releases a toasted, nutty aroma.
  3. Slowly pour in the whole milk while whisking continuously to ensure no lumps form.
  4. Stir in the condensed milk to increase creaminess.
  5. Lower the heat to medium-low and simmer, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens and begins to move away from the sides of the pan.
  6. Stir in the sugar, cardamom powder, and saffron strands soaked in 1 tablespoon of warm milk.
  7. Continue cooking for another 5-8 minutes until the halwa achieves a glossy sheen and reaches a soft ball consistency.
  8. Garnish with slivered almonds before serving.
